Glavé & Holmes Architecture is offering a Classical Academy this May.
The Classical Academy features four free, one-hour lectures presented by Calder Loth entitled “Basic Architectural Literacy” (see description here). These sessions will run May 14, 15, 19, and 20 from noon until 1 p.m. at Glavé & Holmes’ office at 2101 East Main Street in the Lower Level Seminar space. A fifth lecture by Calder called “Virginia Traditional” will be included (time TBD).
Beginning May 19, students may also select one of two courses taught by Peter Hodson: “Designing Classical” Basic or “Designing Classical” Advanced. Some prior knowledge of Classical design would be beneficial for students in the advanced course. Enrollees may have individually-tailored class schedules and have until late August to complete assignments. These courses will run six weeks and cost $345. The classes are offered through Virginia Commonwealth University with VCU credits.
The Academy will wrap up with a free lecture by Bill Westfall (time TBD).
To attend, RSVP by email by May 7 with your preferred course(s). Lunches can be provided at $10 if requested in advance by May 7 or attendees may bring their own lunches. The lectures will start promptly at noon.
