Hanbury, an Architectural, Planning and Interior Design Firm established in 1979, seeks to hire a Senior Architect to join our Richmond office. The ideal candidate will have project leadership experience in a diversity of design-focused work, including higher education, civic/community and science & technology projects. The successful candidate will advance the mission, goals, strategies, and core values of the firm.
Responsibilities include collaborating with the Design Principal and Project Manager to deliver services, consulting with the client to ascertain the goals and objectives of the project, attending project meetings, directing and reviewing activities of designers and other staff, reviewing and evaluating the program, schedule, budget, project site, and other information furnished by the client and the laws, codes, and regulations applicable to the Architect’s services. Additionally, the Senior Architect will prepare and present designs, drawings, and other documents utilizing computer-assisted design software and equipment, consider environmentally responsible design alternatives, and prepare construction documents for the client’s approval.
The Senior Architect will coordinate with other consultants on the project, assist in documenting and maintaining records for the project, prepare estimates of the Cost of the Work, update the estimate at various phases of the project, advise and consult with the client during the Construction Phase Services, and perform duties consistent with the professional skill and care ordinarily provided by architects practicing in the same or similar locality.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, an established Virginia Architectural License, 15+ years of experience within the A/E/C industry, excellent leadership and communication skills, in-depth understanding of Architectural software, dedicated to excellence, and a perpetual learner in pursuit of knowledge to stay current with future trends.
