HRC Poplar Forest Tour – May 15, 2014
May 15, 2014 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Join the VSAIA’s Historic Resources Committee as we return to Thomas Jefferson’s villa retreat Poplar Forest, considered his best design for the life of a private citizen. Tour the house to learn about architecture, preservation and life in the early 19th century. See ongoing excavation and view artifacts from the plantation community that lived and worked at Poplar Forest. Discover Jefferson’s vision for his gardens, ornamental plantings and farm at Poplar Forest as it emerges through archaeology. This restoration journey, of both house and landscape, provides a place and an experience that allows us to feel anew what rekindled Thomas Jefferson’s own inspiration and spirit at the end of his life. Register now.
