2015 Fellows Fete – May 9, 2015
May 9, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with your colleagues and friends at the annual Virginia Fellows Fete on Saturday May 9 at the Mount Vernon Country Club. Here is what we have planned:
• Smith Library tour, 1:30-3:00 pm. Guided tour of the new Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at the Mount Vernon estate. The 45,000-square-foot building serves as a safe haven for his books and letters, and a center for education about his leadership. A wing of conference facilities supports programs devoted to the founding father’s achievements and ethics. Designed by Ayers Saint Gross. Please meet in the plaza at the front of the building. No entry fee.
• Self-tour of Mount Vernon Estate, at your convenience. If you wish to explore Mount Vernon on your own, individual tickets can be purchased at the gate. Feel free to create your own tour of the restored mansion, Ford Orientation Center, Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center, gardens, Washington farm exhibit, and new distillery. The estate includes 25 interactive galleries and theaters. Entry fees: $18 (one day) or $30 (annual membership including entry for a year).
• Reception and dinner, 6:00-9:00 pm. Fete reception and dinner will take place at nearby Mount Vernon Country Club, 5111 Old Mill Road, Alexandria, VA 22309. The black-tie event will begin at 6:00 pm with a reception in the club’s Mount Vernon Room with an open bar and light hors d’oeuvres, followed by the traditional group picture of the Fellows. The dinner buffet will offer a choice of two entrees, salads, vegetable side dishes, and dessert; wine is included. The cost is $135 for a single or $250 for a pair.
