Join our team in South Bend & Indianapolis, IN as a Project Architect or Architectural Associate. You will have the opportunity to work on complex projects, exercise your professional judgment, & contribute to delivering exceptional architectural solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform architectural and design assignments with specialized technical expertise.
  • Manage projects of moderate complexity and potentially lead less experienced staff.
  • Coordinate with engineering groups, clients, contractors, & other stakeholders.
  • Develop design concepts, produce graphic and written material, & direct support staff.
  • Conduct studies on architectural methods, codes, and materials.
  • Review client change orders and oversee construction contract administration.
  • Ensure work is performed safely and represent the company positively.

Requirements:

  • Hold a NAAB-accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Completed or in the process of completing NCARB Intern Development Program or enrolled in EAXP program.
  • 1-8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Revit®, Microsoft Office® Suite.
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Strong oral & written presentation skills.
  • Ability to visit & navigate construction sites safely.

Building Enclosure – BE
TAM Consultants, Inc., A Terracon Company | Williamsburg, VA

Provide consulting services for all major components & systems of buildings related to the building enclosure similar facility infrastructure for a broad array of projects & clients. This may include:

  • BE analysis & recommendations
  • Performing field investigations
  • Development of plans & specifications
  • Review drawings & construction for compliance with plans & specifications
  • Resolve design & construction problems
  • Writing, preparation, & review of related reports for the services provided
  • Apply Architectual principles, communicate complex issues, concepts to technical & non-technical clients
  • Prepare proposals, evaluate project progress, budgets

Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the commercial, retail, multi-family, hotel, senior living, industrial and or governmental sectors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Senior level professional who acts as a resource & specialist for building enclosure projects including building enclosure consulting, BECx (commissioning) & building enclosure testing
  • Manages, leads &/or consults on large, complex or unique projects
  • Capable of analyzing all technical aspects of subject area, defining scope & selecting problems for investigation, developing novel concepts and approaches, & recommending solutions
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies & formal presentations of qualifications to clients on various projects in area of expertise

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or similar
  • 10+ years’ experience in BE services
  • Valid driver’s license
  • PE, RA, RRC, RWC, or similar

Preferred:

  • ABAA Inspector, EIFS Inspector
  • Expertise in building enclosure systems
  • Restoration & consulting involving water vapor transmission & air barrier design
  • Experience working on suspended scaffolding, vertical heights, high-rise building facades, roofs

COTE Awarded Grant

The AIA Virginia Committee on the Environment (COTE) has been awarded a Knowledge Community Grant to present the 2030 Challenge series this summer to the members of AIA Virginia.

To help advance the AIA’s overall climate goals, Virginia COTE seeks to elevate understanding of the AIA 2030 Commitment, among architects and designers, and provide an actionable framework towards meeting the challenge goal of carbon-neutral building by 2030.

Anca Lipan, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Associate/Studio Director at Baskervill in Richmond has been appointed by Governor Glenn Youngkin to the Art and Architecture Review Board.

With the philosophy that the most powerful designs are those that are contextual, Anca brings passion and precision to her role as architect and Studio Director. A scholarly designer with a global perspective, her wealth of knowledge has led her to share the world of architecture with others through the ACE Mentor program, AIA Front Porch, Architecture Week, and other community outreach programs and student architecture camps for the past 15 years.
